Animal Skin Rugs – Striking & Natural

Because of numerous natural variations in these hides and skins, you can easily explore the options online and select the perfect item to use in your home decorating efforts. Regardless of whether you toss a reindeer hide over the arm of a chair or sprawl sheepskin rugs across the floor, this material will hold up well to rigorous use in the years ahead. They can withstand heavy foot traffic, and they may be resistant to staining. This makes a sheepskin rug, a cowhide rug or a reindeer hide an ideal material to decorate your home with.

Three Interior Design Tips

So you have a new room that you wish to furnish, and it’s important that you provide it with the right look, so you won’t experience any regrets. The price tag is important, too. You don’t want anything that will eat a hole through your wallet and then not look right when you get it within your walls. Nobody wants to be the butt of the joke at a gathering, and if you make the wrong choices in furniture, you stand to be just that. You heard of a friend who uses some furniture to furnish the interior of your house, and you think it sounds too risky on account of the misconceptions you have about what patio furniture is.

Patio furniture is not the cheap breakable plastic that you can buy at any discount retail chain – no, no, no. Patio furniture is just that. Furniture! The word should imply durability, which quality furniture possesses. It doesn’t take a long time of looking at quality furniture to know that it can hold its own just as well on the inside as the outside. That’s why you should consider these three interior design tips for using patio furniture:

1. Select a look that won’t age. Won’t age? Everything ages, you might think. But that doesn’t mean it has to look the part. Examine some of the trends of the seventies with shag carpeting and heavy uses of green and yellow, and you will be able to tell right away that some looks age, and age badly. Most furniture never gives time a foothold. It uses a natural mystique to create combinations of looks that transcend any time or place. Mother Nature is always in style, and that’s what products such as teak furniture bring to the table. Teak is a hard, dense, beautiful wood that occurs naturally and calls on the finest natural imagery you can find. Often used to support furnishings, it is a great way of staying in touch while the other trends are falling out.

2. Choose something with a darker look. No, that doesn’t mean invest solely in color, but it does give you a starting point for testing something’s strength. How does it do that? Well, materials such as iron are often darker in color but provide some of the greatest strength and support that money can buy without sacrificing cost or aesthetics. Pay attention to how your patio furniture is supported and avoid future regrets.

3. Settle on an arrangement that maximizes space. Lightweight durability is one of unique quality of all good patio furniture. The ability to shift and shape your room until it is perfect: that’s what you want! And if that look ever grows tired, patio furniture makes it easy for you to be versatile in your styling.

Interior Design Tips For the Living Room

The living room is the most popular place in a house for the entertainment of guests. This is why it is imperative that this area be decorated and made into a friendly atmosphere to ensure the comfort of visitors. The layout of the room must flow well and all items found here should match with the overall theme of the room.

The most basic tip for designing a living room is making sure all colors and themes found here fit together. No clashing colors of any kind unless that is the style desired. Also, never mix modern furniture with old fashioned pieces. Carpets and drapes on the windows should match up to ensure that the rooms color scheme ties together.

The furniture and spacing of furniture can also add to the overall effect of the room. The colors and style of furniture should coordinate with other colors found in the room. Placing the furniture around the central focus of the room, in most cases a television, promotes uniformity of the area. Pieces of furniture in this room include couches, recliners, end tables, and television stands.

Other items that can enhance the composition of a living room are appliances and other items that could be considered decor. Different types of lamps on end tables or pictures that are hung on the wall give the living room a homely sense. If a fireplace is found here, decorating the mantle is also an option. Also, some people put a bar in this room for the serving cocktails to guests.

The living room is the area of a house where most waking hours are spent. This area is used to entertain guests, lounge around, or can be a work station. It is pivotal that spacing be used correctly to create good flow and use of light in the room. The most interior design tips for the living room should factor in the comfort of the owner and guests.

Interior Design Tips

Every room in interior design is important, and should have something to do with each other to be effective.

Each room should be thoughtful, it can be passionate, it should be a reflection of someone(s). It should be you in some form or another. We know we are making a statement with our fashion, but we should know too that we are making a statement with our interiors. What statement is that? Is your statement as great as you? A lot of the times, no. The nice thing is that something can be done about it. I suggest a complete design plan that makes every room complement each other and then it becomes one wonderful whole design.

Imagine, many rooms in a house and they all compliment each other, that is a great idea! How is that done or how can it be done?

There is something in design called unity. I think unity helps to make each room compliment each other. Color and value is another key for each room to compliment each other. Textures in each room can help each room to compliment each other. Lines in each room can compliment each other, and lastly size can also help.

  • Unity: myon line dictionary says unity is the state of forming a complete and pleasing whole, especially in an artistic context: the repeated phrase gives the piece unity and cohesion. A word of caution is in order here though, too much unity equals boring! Throw in a little variety with your unity to give it interest. I just tweeted that as my interior design tip of the day. It is a good one.
  • Color and Value can be used to make each room compliment each other. Let us say you have 3 main colors in your color scheme, 2 secondary colors and some dashes of accent colors. You can make one of the 3 main colors be dominate in each of your 3 bedrooms. This is if you like a lot of color. Better yet might be a neutral beige, bone or cream throughout with one of the 3 main colors being the bedspread colors in each of the 3 bedrooms. Color distribution is important in a full interior design, but this hopefully gives you a glimpse of how it is done. Sorry, but it is a huge subject that cannot be answered fully in this format. Value is how much black or white added to a color. Black being 10 on a scale (shades), white being 1 on a scale (tints) and grey being 5 on a scale (tones). That of course changes the color, but some consistency on the color tones helps.
  • Textures: Do you like smooth or rough? Be careful of visual texture, like a wallpaper that is smooth to the touch, but rough to the eye. This is considered texture. Visual texture is texture, even if it is smooth to the touch. So have a dominance of texture or not throughout your house.
  • Lines – Straight or curved, have a dominate one
  • Size – Large, medium or small. Choose your dominate. I have found that this does not have to do with your size or even the room size sometimes. It has to do with personality. You know, a small person can sometimes have a huge personality. That is what needs to be reflected in their home.

Why is this even important? Your home can flow, it can reflect and it can give you a peace from the outside world. As you make your choices above your house gets defined as uniquely yours and the goal is for it to be as awesome as where you are going in life!

Interior Design Tips For the Bathroom

The bathroom is a place where undoubtedly a homeowner and their guests will spend a considerable amount time. It is important to always maintain the cleanliness of a bathroom because of the inherent health risks that come with having dirty restroom. However, there are some interior design tips for the bathroom that can make even a restroom a room to be proud of.

The first step in creating a good bathroom is to identify and use the open space wisely. In cases of powder rooms with only a sink and toilet in them, there may not be a lot of space to utilize. Do not over clutter one of these rooms. Make use of the space to decorate following a theme or color. Magazine racks, toilet paper roll location, and a candle or air fresheners are also great additions.

When trying to design a bathroom with a shower or tub, once again, use all open space wisely. Keep all sinks, countertops, and the shower clean at all times. Matching the shower curtain to the rugs on the floor is a way to make the room a little cozier. Also, the lighting in the bathroom can be important to the overall feel of the room.

In addition, the appliances water closets contain can be a reflection of a person’s tastes and preferences. For instance, mounting a TV opposite a toilet is an innovation that is now fast becoming a fixture of all men’s bathrooms. A Jacuzzi tub is also a luxury item which will enhance any bathroom. Scented candles are also a good idea for mood lighting.

Interior design tips for the bathroom are extremely dependent on the owner’s taste and style. Utilizing light, space, and a theme are great ways to get started but don’t forget to add personal flare. A person’s house is their castle and a source of pride. Bathrooms should be kept clean at all times and if decorated properly, can be another room to show off.

Interior Design Tips

The bedroom is a room that gives people insight to one’s personal style. Many factors, such as walls and space, color, theme, and closet space and location play into the general layout of the bedroom. When looking for interior design tips for the bedroom, these factors, if taken into account, will boost the look and style of the room.

To begin, one must identify the space available in the room. This includes closet space. With an accurate picture in mind, a person can turn an ordinary bedroom into their sanctuary from the rest of the world. Once space is identified, fill in the room with the furniture as needed. Make sure all colors and themes match the theme of the room.

A person’s bed is the centerpiece in any bedroom. Placement of the bed should be in the most central part of the room. All other pieces of furniture should be coordinated around the bed. Also, the size and colors of the bed spread must match the open space and theme of the room. Obviously, a king size bed will not fit in a dorm room.

Placement of furniture around one’s room can also be a big part of the design layout. A room must have enough space to get dressed. The flow and placement of furniture must allow for space. If a television is in the bedroom, it must be placed where it can be seen clearly from the bed. Each piece of furniture should revolve around the center fixture of this room.

Interior design tips for the bedroom must be varied because a person’s bedroom is a reflection of their life and taste. This is why most people’s bedrooms are personal, private areas. However, because of this space being personal, the most important aspect of designing a bedroom is making sure the room fits the occupant’s style and personality.

Commercial Interior Design Tips

Eating out is all about the experience. The customer pays accordingly depending on the quality of food, the size and location of the place, the reviews and it’s popularity. Profit margins are tight and constantly being squeezed, whether that’s due to competition, inflation, fashion or the countless other factors. For some, the decision to invest in a refurbishment and employ a designer is a natural process…the space is tired and in need of a re-think. For others, that decision is a whole lot harder and it’s primarily down to a lack of a budget.

With many design projects, if the wrong people are involved then it can be very costly, with targets, budgets and time frames sliding ever further away. But, done correctly from the outset, and with a good design and build team, the process can be managed to meet any budget and any time frame. Listed in this article are our top 8 interior design tips on how to transform your restaurant or cafe on a limited budget…..

1. Employ a fully qualified designer. Why? Well, they could actually save you money in the end. They will take a professional objective approach to your space as they have no emotional connections with it. They can also bring a lot of good contacts to the job, good trades people, suppliers, joiners, and fitters. Think about it, they won’t recommend anyone that they haven’t worked with in the past as it’s their reputation on the line as well!

2. Flooring. If it’s a timber floor simply sand it back and re-stain. It will look as good as new. If you have carpet, replace with a more practical timber effect vinyl flooring. These are very cost effective after having fallen in price over the last few years, good for acoustics, easily maintained, hygienic and can be fitted very quickly.

3. Re-clad the joinery items. If you’re not wanting to re-space plan the entire restaurant then you will have to make do with the location of certain things ie. the servery counter, the bar, waiter/ress stations. If you think they need replacing have a good look, as you would be surprised as to how you can transform these items relatively easily. Phone a joiner to come down to cost the replacement of the timber top. Clad the front in tiles. Insert a lighting strip under the counters leading edge.

4. Bespoke or ‘off the shelf’ lighting pendants. Adding pendant lighting is such a cheap and striking tip to transform the space. Lighting can drastically change the mood of the space between day and night and is key to the success of a space.

5. New paint scheme. Yes, it’s the most obvious and cheapest of the bunch, but if done well it really does work. If, however, which is very often the case, it goes wrong it isn’t so good. If in doubt go neutral, bright colours in a dining environment are not condusive to a relaxed environment.

6. Design feature. If you have a large wall or an area that most people will see, attempt to make this a design feature. Whether it’s a full scale graphic, cladding, a lighting feature or even a collection of pictures, this is a really good cost effective solution that really will transform your space.

7. Space plan. This one is crucial. If the space isn’t working, simply move the furniture around. Make the flow of people better. Insert timber screens to create privacy and zone areas. Ensure there is adequate space between tables. Don’t put people next to the door. Have provision for buggies and a baby changing area. Try to zone the space into different groups of people (if your offering suggests this). For example, have an area of 2 seaters for couples, 4 seaters for families and make the space flexible for parties and groups.

8. New signage. You won’t attract the customer into your restaurant if the exterior is looking dated. Invest in a modern looking fascia, with swing signs, A boards and make sure it’s illuminated so customers can see it when it’s dark! You’d be surprised at the number of under illuminated fascias – remember, if they won ‘t see you they won’t come in!

Tips For Creating a Great Guest Room

There are many interior design tips for creating a great guest room that can be found through out magazines, the internet or at your local library. There are also great shows on television that can help put you on your way to creating a great guest room that will have your guest wondering how you could afford to hire that costly interior designer. Here will touch on a few great ideas.

All you need is a little know how and to know what design style you are wanting to go for. A great guest room is one that holds little bits of the homeowner’s personalized items – but not so overwhelming that it makes your guest feel as if they are intruding. Making it a space that both can love and enjoy is not difficult if you know how to implement the right things into it.

You can start off by making the decision to go bright and sunny or calm and cozy. Either of these interior design styles can easily be achieved by use of paint, furniture and accessories. Really, once you have made the decision for the color of the room and the style of furniture you want to use, the rest is pretty much about accessorizing. Accessories can speak volumes for any room, including your guest room.

Have fun with your guest rooms in a way that you may not usually decorate other rooms. By this I mean you could have tasteful antique knick-knacks on the bedside table with an elegant bedside lamp – little flourishes go a long way. A vase with fresh flowers that match the room colors can be a nice and thoughtful touch. Matching towels and a soft cozy terry robe set on the bed would be very welcoming and comforting. All these things can be incorporated into the style and color of your guest room and it will leave your guest with a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling. But not too fuzzy, you don’t want your guests staying too long!

Ten Helpful Interior Design Tips

Ten useful interior design tips

1) Choose a theme you love.

When you’re ready to start interior design on a room, choose a theme you love. Don’t choose a theme just because it’s popular or modern – choose it because it lifts your mood and makes you feel good. Some great themes for bathrooms are “beach” “Disney” and “tropical”. Some great themes for living rooms include “African” “Jungle/Bamboo” and “Black and White”.

2) If you don’t want to decorate a room by theme, decorate by color.

Some of the most beautifully decorated houses are decorated by color theme. A bathroom with several shades of green and cream throughout the curtain, towels, carpets and accessories can make a world of a difference.

3) Build up your luxuries.

You don’t have to buy everything all at once. Concentrate on something you use every day that you would like to upgrade and start there. Little by little, start building up your luxuries and before long you’ll have the entire home designed just how you wanted it, without needing to take out a loan before you start.

4) Don’t clutter.

A clean and organized environment is peaceful and calm. Don’t clutter up rooms with unnecessary decorations everywhere. Get the basic decorating done and if you find some nice items in the future which match your design, buy them. But don’t buy every little thing that you think will fit into the room.

5) Be yourself.

When decorating your home, decorate it based on what you truly like and make it a space you will love to be in every day. One’s home is sometimes a place for guests, but when decorating make it how you want it, not how you think others will want it.

6) Choose colors that make you feel good.

When choosing colors for the walls or the interior decorations, choose colors which you like. If a light blue wall with darker blue decor throughout the room makes you feel good, then do it.

7) Think comfort.

A fancy chair may look appealing, but make sure you would be willing to sit in that chair at every dinner for the next five years. If a piece of furniture is cute but uncomfortable, forget about it. Accessories are made to be cute – furniture is meant to be comfortable.

8) Don’t always choose what YOU want.

You may the one decorating your home – but the room you’re decorating is not your room. Find out from others who will be using or sharing the space what they like. A child may want his room to be orange and white with tiger accessories all over the place and you may hate the idea – but remember that you want your child to like his room and to think of his room as a place he feels calm. So take the advice of others when decorating their areas – your personal opinion isn’t as important when it’s not your personal space.

9) Do what you can afford.

Don’t go into a home decorating store and buy every single thing that appeals to you. If you allocate your money correctly and only spend what you need to on home decorations, you’ll probably wind up with a house much more stylish than others, and with a lot less junk than others.

10) Always observe what others have.

Some of the best interior design ideas have come from those who always observed other peoples’ homes and constantly got more and more great ideas. Even if you know exactly what you want and how you want it, it helps to see pictures and samples of interior decorations sometimes.
